Your Parish Council is aware of the idea for a forthcoming
“Community Engagement Event and Exhibition” in Longwick Village Hall
This is regarding the potential submission of a major, speculative, outline planning application, for Rose Farm in Longwick.
The event is privately organised by the owners of the land and has no Parish Council involvement.
FOR REFERENCE
Your Parish Council was elected in May 2025. Since then, its position on new development proposals has been to fully support the wishes of local residents, as set out in our adopted Neighbourhood Plan.
The Neighbourhood Plan allowed for around 300 additional homes to be built to 2033, this has resulted in the village almost doubling in size in a relatively short period of time.
Over the past 18 months, in response to the views of the community, the Parish Council has opposed a number of speculative development proposals. This has been to respect the purpose and principles of the Neighbourhood Plan and to address some of the negative effects of the previous major expansion of the village. These effects have been felt in various ways and have affected the quality of life of residents.
It is important to remember that the Neighbourhood Plan was approved by local residents through a referendum. One of its key aims was to protect the identity and independence of Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish, preserve its traditional heritage and rural character, and prevent the village from becoming increasingly urbanised through further loss of countryside and damage to the local environment.
This is where we currently focus.
NOTE
The Draft Buckinghamshire Local Plan, currently in development, does not include the Rose Farm land allocation, and is not making demands on Longwick for more extensive housing in the immediate future.
Implications from this engagement event include the possibility of many hundreds of new homes in Longwick .
The view of your Council is that the proposed development application is inappropriate for Longwick and its residents.
